COMBINE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER INTO ONE COMPACT, FUNCTIONAL PRODUCT EXPERIENCE

The Challenge

Making Two Essentials Work as One

Hair care is often built around multiple products, multiple bottles and more complexity than an active lifestyle needs.

Duet was conceived as an innovative hair-care line that brings shampoo and conditioner together in one compact package, while still addressing different scalp and hair needs across normal, dry and oily types.

The challenge was to create packaging that could communicate this simplicity and innovation at first glance, while feeling practical, contemporary and relevant to an active, design-conscious audience.

  • Combine two everyday hair-care products into one compact format
  • Create a form that feels intuitive and comfortable to use
  • Appeal to dynamic professionals with active lifestyles
  • Balance functional simplicity with a distinctive emotional identity

The Strategy

Designing Around the Life It Needs to Fit Into

Rather than starting with decoration, the direction started with the people and their routines.

The target audience was defined as dynamic professionals balancing careers with active lifestyles. They value innovation, comfort and energy, while looking for products that are easy to use, easy to carry and simple enough to fit naturally into a busy day.

That led to a strategy built around three core values:

Innovation. Comfort. Energy.

These values translated into two complementary design priorities: functional efficiency through a space-saving, portable format, and an emotional identity that captures the vibrancy of an active lifestyle.

The packaging therefore needed to feel as energetic as the people using it, without compromising simplicity.

Execution

From Form Factor to Final Identity

The design process began with the most fundamental question: what should two products in one actually look and feel like?

We explored unconventional package forms before developing the final dual-container structure, creating a compact bottle that houses separate shampoo and conditioner volumes within one unified silhouette.

The final direction brought together:

  1. Form

A rounded, ergonomic silhouette with smooth edges designed for comfortable everyday handling.

  2. Function

A slightly larger shampoo compartment and smaller conditioner compartment reflect typical usage, while the cap is designed for easier opening and closing.

  3. Brand Identity

A compact DUET mark reinforces the idea of two products working together as one.

  4. Colour

Vibrant yellow, green and pink variants create differentiation across product types while expressing the energy of the target audience.

  5. Typography

Minimal sans-serif typography keeps the packaging clean and modern, with elongated letterforms echoing the rounded geometry of the bottle.

The Impact, Quantified

A Two-in-One Concept With a Clear Product System

The outcome translated the original idea into a tangible packaging system with clear product differentiation and a consistent visual language.

The concept demonstrates how product architecture, usability and brand expression can work together, turning the two-in-one proposition into something visible through the physical form itself.

The Work, As It Happened

Execution You Can See

The work progressed from audience definition to brand positioning, form exploration and packaging development, before moving into the final visual identity.

The final system brings together the bottle construction, DUET logo, product naming, colour variants and typography into a cohesive packaging language.

From the first form studies to the final yellow, green and pink product visualisations, every element reinforces the same idea:

Two essentials. One bottle. A simpler routine.

In Their Words

We'll Let the Results Do Most of the Talking
